OTFCC 2004 - The Hasbro Toy Display

By Anthony Brucale

The Hasbro display was a massive, hulking beast, taking up a large segment of the middle area of the dealer floor. And Hasbro didn't fail in pulling out all the stops, cramming the displays with Energon, Universe, Reissues, Alternators and store exclusives.

The upcoming year for Energon seems very promising. Though there are many recolors in the future for Transfans, there are also a number of remolds. Additionally, Hasbro is focusing on exploiting the combining features of Energon toys and bringing us more traditional combiners in the forms of Superion Maximus and Constructicon Maximus. Finally, we will see the official release of a Quintesson figure with the release of Alpha-Questesson.

Transformers: Alternators will continue into 2005 with more great licensed cars and old favorites reimagined. Though previously believed to be red and yellow, repectively, Alternators Jazz and Tracks will be white and blue, respectively. Though Jazz will retain his Japanese name this time around and be called "Meister." Also, the yellow version of Tracks will still be released in Japan. Lastly, Hound will be remolded into Swindle.

Finally, Transformers: Universe, Hasbro's repaint only line, will continue. Among the figures to look forward to are imports of Superlink Cyclonus and Demolishor, a Devastator version of RID Landfill, some Cyberjet recolors, new forms for Whirl and Swerve, and the first American release of the Big Convoy mold as Nemesis Prime.
