The Destruction Team was easily one of the neatest and most fun Mini-Cons sets, so it's hardly a surprise that Hasbro decided to re-release them with new color schemes and a new team name. Heck, I'd like to see remolds of these guys in Energon too.
BUZZSAW
Vehicle
Mode: While he looks like something from out of a sci-fi
movie, Buzzsaw
is actually a real Earth vehicle, a bucket or wheel excavator. About 7
cm (2.8") long, he's mainly green with silver for his saw-like weapon,
driver's compartment, and various other parts, dark gray for his conveyor
belt, and orange and yellow accents. His faction symbol is on his roof
and his PX socket is on his underside at the rear. Pushing him forwards
or backwards causes the large saw-like weapon to spin rapidly, chopping
through terrain or possibly a Decepticon leg. The saw is beautifully detailed,
as are Buzzsaw's
treads.
Transformation: Pretty complex for a Mini-Con. Seperate and fold down the top section of the vehicle, swing out the legs, close up the chest, and rotate the head.
Robot
Mode: Buzzsaw
stands 5.5 cm (2.2") tall at the head. Though small, his wide chest
and massive arms give him an air of brute strength and toughness. In this
mode, he's mainly green and silver with a dark gray right arm and orange
and yellow accents on his arms, chest, and legs. His head is silver with
an orange face.Buzzsaw
is articulated at the head, shoulders, waist, hips, and feet. His right
arm ends in a heavy fist, his left arm has the saw on it. The saw can
still spin by turning the gear on his arm with your finger.
Buzzsaw is a winner all the way. Unique vehicle mode, nifty gimmick, involved transformation, good robot mode with decent poseability. 10/10
DRILL BIT
Vehicle
Mode: Drill
Bit is some kind of treaded mining vehicle with a driver's compartment
at one end and a huge drill at the other. Measuring 7 cm long, he's primarily
green with dark gray treads and drill, silver panelling, yellow windows,
light blue accents, and metallic silver on the bumper and the tip of the
drill. His faction symbol is on top of his engine and his PX socket is
in the center of his underside. Pushing him forwards or backwards causes
the drill to spin rapidly, making him the ideal partner for aspiring Cybertronian
orthodontists.
Transformation: Swing down the legs, swing the arms around, and rotate the head.
Robot
Mode: Drill
Bit stands a little over 5.5 cm tall. He's definitely the most bizarrely
proportioned of the trio, with an enormous right arm, a puny left one,
and a great big energon belly. His main colors in this mode are green
and dark gray with yellow, silver, and light blue accents. His head is
green with a light blue face.
Drill Bit is articulated at the head, shoulder, hips, and feet. His left arm ends in some kind of ranged weapon. His right arm, of course, is the drill, which now spins freely.
While not quite as neat as Buzzsaw, Drill Bit is still a very cool, fun toy. 9/10
DUALOR
Vehicle
Mode: Dualor
is an anti-aircraft tank, and a formidable-looking one at that. A little
over 5 cm (2") long, he's green with silver guns and front panels,
black treads, and orange, yellow, and light blue accents. His faction
symbol is on top of his turret and his PX socket is in the center of his
underside. Like his comrades, he's got superb detailing, from his treads
to his guns and to the hatch on his turret. The turret rotates a full
360 degrees. Pushing him forwards or backwards causes his guns to pulsate
back and forth. The gimmick works no matter what direction the turret
is facing.
Transformation: Rotate the turret to face the rear, extend the legs, and flip out the feet.
Robot
Mode: The blockiest of the trio, Dualor
stands 5.5 cm tall at the head, 7.5 cm (3") with the guns on his
back. He's mostly green with a black chest, silver hips, thighs, and feet,
and orange and yellow accents. His face is all black, which is kind of
a disappointment, since he's got a nicely molded eye visor.
Dualor is articulated at the shoulders, waist, and hips. Both his arms end in molded fists. The turret on his back means you have to angle his legs forward a bit to keep him from falling over.
Although slightly less poseable than his buddies, Dualor is every bit as enjoyable. 9.5/10
While all three members of the RWT are great enough on their own, what *really* makes them fun and worthwhile is the fact that they can attach to Cyclonus' helicopter mode and work in conjunction with his spinning rotor gimmick. Just snap one of them onto the exposed gear on the underside of his cockpit and press his trigger repeatedly for slicing/drilling/firing action. Their mostly green color schemes mean that they go better with Powerlinx Cyclonus than the original version.
Overall, Susp Sez: This is easily one of my favourite Mini-Con teams. The new color schemes give them a more unified, realistic appearance and the gimmicks are as fun as ever. Even if you already own the Destruction Team, I recommend getting the Road Wrecker Team as well. 9.5/10
